Happy New Solar Eclipse | January 5, 2011

Towards the end of last year, we had a lunar eclipse, and now It’s the new year, and there’s been a solar eclipse.

Well, it might not be a big deal for you, but for a werewolf like me it is. Although I guess I got lucky/unlucky this time round, since America, wasn’t affected by the first solar eclipse of the brand spanking new year.

Well, I don’t mean to say I personally brought on the recent solar eclipse, but hey you never know with these things right?

Maybe it’s what happens when all of us werewolves suddenly congregate and concentrate on the same thing all at once? Or maybe, and more likely, it’s just a part of how nature works. Does it’s thing and we just do ours too. Well, we try.

You see when a lunar eclipse happens, the sun, goes between the moon and earth and for a werewolf, that’s like, power down time. We can’t shape shift freely, we kind of lack all our inherit abilities, super speed, accelerated healing and the rest. And there really isn’t a lot we can do about it either, other than ride the whole time frame of this affect out, in the safest way possible.

Some werewolves see this as a dangerous time, because we get stripped as it were, of all those extra things, that make us the evolved creatures we are. They see lunar eclipses as a vulnerability for werewolves, rather than a time out from what it feels like to be a werewolf constantly. So they sit out lunar eclipse time, by hiding out. Staying out of the public and out of sight. Protecting themselves as it were.

But a solar eclipse, when the moon blocks the sun, that’s a whole other ball game. The moon blocks the sun and casts it’s shadow on the earth. It’s like, the moon inches closer to earth and that’s when things get a little…furry.

It’s when the humans of the world really should be a little bit weary of werewolves, even afraid. Because the effect is basically the complete opposite of what happens to us, when it’s lunar. I don’t get how it works, or why, I just know, as a werewolf, that it does. There’s like a ripple affect to werewolves the world over.

If you go looking for stats on the increase in werewolf related violence over the years, and you know how to find stuff, and read between lines, I’m pretty sure you could find the pattern in increased violence around the various times of a solar eclipse. I’m not saying all the time, but predominately.

And whilst a solar eclipse might, amp us werewolves up more, like a caffeine booster shot, it’s only like a highly concentrated dose when we’re in large groups. When we’re more scattered about the place as individuals, it’s surprisingly not that great. I mean the affects that run through our bodies, feels maybe a little more heightened than average, a bit more like we feel during a lunar week, but you know, without the restlessness that’s normally associated with the heightened sensations.

The only draw back of a solar eclipse for werewolves, is the random shape shifting. It’s kind of like you get a few minutes warning that a shift is going to happen. Maybe enough time for you to stop panicking and figure out where you need to be to shift or whatever, and then bam, someone, the sun, mother nature, turns on the power and your shape shift happens, whether you want it to or not and it’s fast. When solar eclipse shape shift happens, it’s like knocking the breath out of you fast. And it doesn’t let you hold the shift for very long either, usually only for forty minutes at the most. And it generally happens more than once, in the solar eclipse time frame.
It’s weird.
But then, so is being a werewolf and werewolf world – (Hello, have you read my blog? !)

  5. Hey, I have a small question: If a werewolf child was procreated on a full solar eclipse and born on full moon, will it differ to other werewolves?

    • I’m no expert, but I think you could expect some form of Hell-wolf. Mood swings anyone? -Bg-
